According to the preliminary data from SMMT, as dealers suspended operation, British automakers sold more than 20,000 units of new vehicles in May, down by nearly 90% from the same period last year, and the worst new vehicle sales in May since 1952.
Data from SMMT showed that UK only registered 20,247 units of new vehicles in May, far lower than 183,724 units in the same period last year. Among them, 12,900 units are private vehicles and 6,638 units were purchased by companies.
