Yunnan environment authority approves EIS for Yunnan Hongtai's aluminum project

The Department of Ecology and Environment of Yunnan Province recently approved the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the 2.03Mtpa primary aluminum project to be built by Yunnan Hongtai New Material Co., Ltd. The EIS elaborated on the nature, scale, location of the project, as well as adopted production technology and proposed environment protection measures.
Yunnan Hongtai plans to invest about 17 billion yuan (2.4 billion US dollars) in the project, including about 1 billion yuan (145 million US dollars) for environmental protection. The project will be built in two phases to realize production capacity of 2,027,800 tonnes per annum of primary aluminum. The project is scheduled to produce 900,000tpa of aluminum ingot for remelting, with the rest to be sold as aluminum liquid to processing plant.
