Jinguan Copper, a subsidiary of Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group, said its Ausmelt furnace copper cathode project (phase II) is expected to go into operation late this June when the company would have an annual production capacity of 640,000t of copper cathode, making it the largest copper smelter of monomer ore in China
According to the company, Tongling Nonferrous launched copper smelting technical upgrade projects in early 2009. The Double-Flash technology smelting project with a production capacity of 400,000tpy of copper cathode became operational on December 18, 2012 . The project operates the world's biggest copper smelter ever built in a single construction cycle; the Ausmelt furnace smelting project with a designed production capacity of 200,000tpy of copper cathode began trial run on May 18, 2018.
