Luoyang issues orange alert for heavy air pollution

The Office for Environmental Pollution Prevention and Control of Luoyang announced on December 31, 2019 that the city might experience moderate to severe air pollution from 2 to 5 January 2020 following a temporary air quality improvement between December 31, 2019 and January 1, 2020, according to the latest weather forecast and air quality prediction
The city's 15 industries including iron and steel, coking, alumina, primary aluminum, carbon, copper smelting and casting that are subject to performance classification mechanism are required to implement compulsory emission reduction measures under the orange alert.
Other industries such as steel companies with short production process, refractory, lead and zinc smelting, ore mining and dressing, nonferrous metals smelting and rolling shall implement compulsory emission reduction measures based on "one plant, one solution" policy and be made public and subject to supervision.
