India's Ministry of Steel issued a relevant steel scrap recycling policy, requiring all departments to increase the effective use of steel scrap, an increase of 7 million tons. The policy stipulates that a steel scrap recycling center will be established throughout India to establish a steel scrap steel environmental management system, which encourages steel scrap processing and recycling, minimizes dependence on imported steel scrap and achieves self-sufficiency.
According to the policy data, India currently has about 25 million tons of steel scrap from domestic unorganized industries. India imports 7 million tons of steel scrap per year, costing about INR245 billion (USD3.45 billion). It's expected that the completion of this policy will require the establishment of 70 collection and processing centers.
