Inner Mongolia closes 12 coal mines in 2019

The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Industrial and Information Technology Department recently issued a notice saying that in order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the State Council's Opinions on Resolving Overcapacity in the Coal Industry to Get out of Poverty and Develop and to eliminate overcapacity in the coal industry, the related office agreed to close 12 coal mines such as the new open-pit coal mine in Jiuyuan District, Baotou in 2019.
According to the announcement, the production capacity of 12 coal mines is 300,000t and above, with a total annual production capacity of 4 million tons, including four in Chifeng and Alxa League respectively, one in each of Baotou, Hulunbeier, Erdos and Bayannur.
