Shandong to reduce 10.31 million tons of coking capacity in 2019

On July 2, the General Office of People's Government of Shandong Province issued the Guiding Opinions on Strictly Controlling the Total Consumption of Coal and Promoting Clean and Efficient Utilization (hereinafter referred to as "the Opinion"). It indicated that the coking capacity under construction should be strictly checked and cleaned up, and all the illegal production capacities should be stopped.
The Opinion clearly stated that by the end of July 2019, a plan to reduce the capacity, and transform and upgrade the coking industry in Shandong should be formulated, and the reduction list and major measures should be clearly defined. It will reduce coking capacity of 10.31 million tons and 6.55 million tons in 2019 and 2020 respectively, totally 16.86 million tons.
