Coal India planned to produce 660 million tons of coal in 2019-2020 fiscal year (April 2019 to March 2020), up by 8.2% from 610 million tons of the previous fiscal year. It expects the capital expenditure to be INR100 billion.
Coal India has reached a mandatory memorandum of understanding with the Coal Ministry on operating and production for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, according to a source.
To meet this production target, coal India needs to increase the output by 8.75% this year from the actual output of last year.
Coal India's actual output for the 2018-2019 fiscal year was 606.88 million tons, failing to reach the production target of 610 million tons.
