Indonesian bauxite export market recovers gradually

A bauxite owner in Indonesia reported that they exported around 55,000t of the material to China last week, the first shipment. “We agreed on around 350,000t of the material with a major Chinese consumer early this month,” said the source, adding that price for bauxite Al 47%min Si 4%max is around USD60/t CFR China . They will finish the contract until late this year.
Based on the capacity of 200,000tpm, they now hold around 200,000t in stock. The owner resumed production from August and the output may reach 150,000t this month.
An Indian bauxite trader confirmed that they now hold around 40,000t of Indonesian bauxite in stock and will be able to provide with around 200,000t of the material per month. “We offer USD58/t CFR China for bauxite Al 48%min Si 10%max,” said the source.
The trader exported around 60,000t of Indian bauxite in August to China and the price for bauxite Al 43%min Si 8%max was around USD37/t CFR China, unchanged from last month. They plan to have new contracts in September and expect for prices higher than USD40/t.
