Shaoxing imports lead and zinc ore for the first time

Recently, a batch of 10 containers and about 277t of lead zinc ore were shipped from Morocco to Shaoxing Paojiang Logistic Center. The inspectors from Shaoxing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau were sent to the scene for sampling inspection. It is the first time that Shaoxing has imported metallic ore, representing a more convenient and diversified import for raw material benefiting from the Belt and Road initiative and the Imports-Exports direct release policy.
Lead and zinc are indispensable base materials and strategic materials for China’s national economy and people's livelihood and the development of advanced technology. Morocco holds rich mineral resources with its lead-zinc ore reserves only ranking second to South Africa which holds the most of the material in Africa. In addition, Morocco’s lead and zinc content ranks third in Africa.
The first-time imported zinc and lead ore will help Shaoxing to strengthen economic links with African countries and give full play of its regional logistic advantage and promote the development of export-oriented economy in shaoxing by making use of overseas raw material advantage.
