BEIJING (Asian Metal) 16 Dec 16 - Prices for Chinese A00 aluminum ingot have declined by about RMB300/t (USD43.22/t) to RMB12,700-12,750/t (USD1,830-1,837/t) in the past two weeks and meanwhile, Japanese Yen depreciates sharply, leading to a decrease in both domestic prices and export prices for ADC12 aluminum alloy ingot. This week, export prices for the metal have slipped by USD10-20/t to USD1,795/t CIF Japan, which however may see limited decreases in the future due to the tight supply on aluminum alloy plants’ production reduction impacted by the environmental inspection in Guangdong.
A China-based exporter of aluminum alloy ingot noted that they have already exported 2,000t of ADC12 aluminum alloy ingot since early December and the average export price holds at USD1,795/t this week, down from USD1,800/t last week. “The price for ADC12 aluminum alloy ingot decreased this week, mainly impacted by depreciated Yen coupled with slipping prices for domestic A00 aluminum ingot,” the source explained, predicting that the future price decrease will be based on the trend for Yen . He added that the demand will remain strong before the end of the year.
According to the source, they can export 2,000-3,000tpm for the metal with around 500t in stock currently.
A Japanese consumer of ADC12 aluminum alloy ingot claimed that export prices for the metal have fallen by USD10-20/t from last week to USD1,790/t CIF Japan this week owing to slipping A00 aluminum ingot prices. “Although the price has declined, the possibility for further decrease is limited on account of the tight market supply,” the source predicted . With slipping prices, they signed a few contracts this week.
Many alloy plants in Guangdong have reduced production for local environmental inspection, which will influence the output to some degree. As for them, they imported 7,000-8,000tpm before, but the figure is expected to slump by about 50% in January 2017 as revealed by the source . Thus, they plan to turn to imports from South Korea.
According to the source, they can consume 12,000tpm currently, also their consumption capacity. They hold stocks for about 7,000-8,000t in their plant currently.
