Lomon & Billions announce price increase of titanium dioxide

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Jul 16 - Asian Metal reported on this Tuesday that Lomon would increase further price of titanium dioxide in the near term. As it turned out, Lomon released news on 6th Jul of the price increase. Additionally, Billions also announced new price quotations on 7th Jul. Market insiders believe that more producers will mark up prices further owing to the strong push by Lomon and Billions, the two largest titanium dioxide producers in China.
“According to the documentation, we raised the price of titanium dioxide by USD80/t on export market and no higher than RMB800/t (USD120/t) in domestic market respectively,” said a source from Lomon. After only one day, Billions also released documentation on price increase and the makeup accorded with those of Lomon’s. “Prices for ilmenite in Chinese market have been on the rise and we are in short of spot material, so we decided to follow Lomon’s footstep to increase further the price,” said a second source from Billions.
As reported before, CSRC has approved Billions’s acquisition of Lomon. Therefore, Billions, with current annual production capacity of 260,000 tons of titanium dioxide, including 60,000 tons of chloride process material, will own an annual production capacity of 560,000 tons, ranking the fourth largest titanium dioxide producer after Dupont, Huntsman and Cristal all over the world.
