AM Statistics: Chinese aluminum fluoride output down by 4.47% YOY in H1 2016

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Jul 16 - According to Asian Metal Database, Chinese aluminum fluoride output decreased by 4.47% YOY to around 329,000t in the first half of 2016. The output in June moved up by 2.25% MOM to around 59,000t.

The output decline in H1 was mainly due to the production cut in Q1, when some major aluminum fluoride producers were out of production for maintenance. The above graph shows that the output began recovering from Q2 after most producers resumed normal production. However, Chinese demand for the material did not witness significant improvement. Instead, demand from the export market became weak. Therefore, aluminum fluoride stocks accumulated gradually, reaching around 33,000t in late June, and weighing on the price. As some producers suffer losses at around RMB5,800-5,900/t ex works, the output may not go up further in July.

Based on the data, three aluminum fluoride producers witnessed output increase in June. The operating rate of aluminum fluoride producers in operation was around 73.5% in June, up from 70.8% in May.
