AM Statistics: Average prebaked anode self-supplying rate of aluminum smelters in Qinghai stays at 38.8%

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Jan 16 – According to Asian Metal Database, the average prebaked anode self-supplying rate of aluminum smelters in Qinghai is around 38.8% in January. The running annual aluminum capacity is around 2.06 million tonnes this month based on established capacity of 2.9 million tonnes, and the current annual demand for prebaked anode is around 1.03 million tonnes..
There are nine aluminum smelters in Qinghai in total, and one of them has been out of production since the middle of last year due to sluggish market. Most smelters have no prebaked anode plants by themselves, and only Qiaotou Aluminum and Huanghe Xinye Aluminum own prebaked anode plants, with annual capacity at 120,000t and 320,000t respectively. The current running annual capacity is 400,000t in total in the province. Huanghe Xinye Aluminum also sells some prebaked anode products in the market.
New data show that smelters in Qinghai have no plan for capacity expansion in aluminum and prebaked anode in 2016, so demand for prebaked anode will be steady this year.
