BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Nov 15 - Chinese aluminum ingot and alumina prices dropped significantly from October, and a few of alumina refineries started cutting production
A Chinese bauxite importer reported that their purchase price for bauxite Al 40%min Si 5%max slid down by USD1-1.5/t to USD28-28.5/t FOB Malaysia in November . “Aluminum ingot and alumina prices decreased significantly from last month, so we have to lower purchase prices,” said the source.
According to the source, they imported around 3 million tonnes of Malaysian bauxite in October and the volume may decline to 2 million tonnes in November if it is rainy in the second half of this month.
Another bauxite importer in China revealed that they planned to sell 50,000-60,000t of Solomon bauxite in December. “The price for bauxite Al 50%min Si 1%max will be around USD58-60/t CFR China,” said the source, adding that some deals were concluded at USD60-65/t CFR China in the first half of this year.
As the source explained, Chinese alumina market became sluggish recently. In addition, their bauxite costs are low . “The mine site is only around 2-15 kilo meters away from the port,” said the source.
The source pointed out that they own right for several mines in the Solomon Islands. Reserves for bauxite Al 50%min Si1%max reach 27 million tonnes.
