Vietnamese CRC prices drop

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Jul 15 - The price of CRC in Vietnam went down sharply in the past month influenced by the weakening demand from consumers and the decreasing production cost. Insiders think it is likely that the price of CRC will come down further in the near future.
A CRC trader in Binh Duong reports that the price of SPCC 1.0mm*1,219mm*C from local mills is VND11,000,000/t (USD504/t) VAT included, falling by VND250,000/t (USD11/t) compared with that of two weeks ago.
Noted by the source, it is the rainy season in local market and the demand shrinks a lot from downstream consumers. In addition, the local price of CRC imported from China with the above-mentioned grade is VND10,300,000/t (USD472/t) VAT included at the moment, so that downstream consumers prefer to buy imported materials. His sales volume of CRC was 1,000 tons in June, less than the regular level of 2,000tpm in the first half year.
A CRC producer with an annual output of 1.2 million tons in Ho Chi Minh City says the current price of SPCC 1.0mm*1,219mm*C is VND10,800,000/t (USD495/t) VAT included, down by VND400,000/t (USD18/t) compared with that of two weeks ago.
The source reveals the price of CRC was cut by around USD45/t in the past month, influenced by the price drop of HRC. “The import price of HRC went down by USD30-40/t in the past month and the market price in Vietnam decreased by around VND500,000/t (USD23/t) in the past week,” he says. The source complains that some of his customers signed contracts to buy CRC two months ago but they ran away and refused to make the payment because of the heavy loss.
