BEIJING (Asian Metal) 11 Oct 14 - According to latest data from Asian Metal, the operating rate for Chinese secondary aluminum alloy plants went up by around 4% MOM to 66% in September. Asian Metal chose 26 Chinese secondary aluminum alloy plants as samples, whose capacities were not less than 50,000tpy for each, and the total capacities were about 3.74 million tonnes.
During September, demand in the overseas market became strong, in spite of the weak demand in Chinese domestic market.
There were six sample plants in Guangdong, whose average operating rate held high at around 87.6%, up by 12% MOM.
The operating rate in Zhejiang province climbed up by 2% to 83.1% in September.
The operating rates in Chongqing and Fujian were low at only 35% and 37.5% in September respectively. The market in Southwest China was sluggish, because plants in the region focused on Chinese domestic market. The rate in Chongqing went down by 6.3% MOM in September.
Given the continuous strong demand from the overseas market, the operating rate in those regions including east China, where most secondary aluminum alloy plants cover export market, will remain high in October.
