Vietnamese CRC market hard to recover

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 Sep 14 - The market of CRC in Vietnam does not show signs of improvement at the moment, in line with unchanged prices. Seeing the import price of HRC is on the downward trend, participants are not confident of CRC market in the short term. Insiders think the price of CRC will decline slightly in the near future.
A CRC trader in Hanoi reports that his offer for SPCC 1.0mm*1,219mm*C from CSVC is VND15,900,000/t (USD755/t) VAT included, the same as that of last week.
Noted by him, the import price of HRC is still on the downward trend at the moment. “Importers can get a quotation of USD510/t CFR Vietnam for HRC SS400 3.0mm*1,250mm*C from China now, down by USD10/t compared with that of last week,” he says, adding that even though the selling price of CRC remains unchanged, it is hard for buyers to accept it because of the HRC price decrease. His regular sales volume of CRC was 400t in past two months, but he predicts that it will hardly reach this level in September.
A CRC producer in Binh Duong says that the price of SPCC 1.0mm*1,219mm*C is VND15,800,000/t (USD746/t) VAT included, unchanged compared with that of last week.
According to the source, the market price of HRC SPHC 2.0mm*1,250mm*C is VND12,800,000/t (USD604/t) VAT included at the moment, which decreased by VND200,000/t (USD9/t) compared with that of last week. In his opinion, even though the price of CRC will not follow the downward trend immediately, it is quite hard for the price to stand firm in the short term and traders will be willing to offer discounts if customers have orders. Not being optimistic about the coming market, the source prefers to cautiously watch the market in the following month.
