Malaysian welded pipe market slow

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Dec 13 - The welded pipe market in Malaysia remains stagnant and the price decreases slightly in some regions. Insiders deem that the market will keep slow dragged by the soft demand from downstream industries.
A trader in Selangor tells Asian Metal that his price of ASTM A500 Φ113.3mm*(3.6-5.4)mm is MYR2,470/t (USD766/t, Theoretical weight), falling by MYR30/t compared with that of last week.
The source reveals that he only holds a small stock of 100t at the moment, and the regular level in the peak season is 500t. He points out that the progress of projects slows down and the demand from downstream buyers will be weaker at the end of the year. As for the coming market, he is unconfident.
Another trader in Sabah tells Asian Metal that the quotation for BS1387 Φ114.3mm*(3.6-4.0)mm is MYR2,500/t (USD775/t, Theoretical weight), unchanged compared with that of the past week.
According to the source, the price should be MYR2,700/t (Net Weight) if customers do not want to purchase materials with theoretical weight price.
