Indonesian thermal coal exporters watch market with cautious attitudes

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 15 Apr 13 - Reflected by Indonesian thermal coal exporters, the present export market runs mildly amid firm prices. The high stockpile in Chinese domestic main power plants and the soft demand for import thermal coal make Indonesian market participants feel upset and unconfident. Insiders forecast a relatively steady market in the near future.
A thermal coal miner from Jakarta reports to Asian Metal that his present quotation for 4,800-4,600 kcal thermal coal is USD54/t FOB Indonesia, firm compared with that of previous trading day.
The price bases on NCV and the GCV specification is 5,600-5,800. He mainly deals with international thermal coal trading with a normal monthly supply volume of 50,000t. When it turns to the business cooperation with interested clients, he hopes customers can accept the payment type of cash instead of LC, so that is why his quotation is relatively lower. He is expanding business and plans to develop some buyers with actual purchasing ability to cooperate with. Speaking of the forthcoming market, he says the price is hard to increase substantially during a short period.
