China sets quota for third batch of rare earth mining, smelting and separation in 2023

China has set a quota for the third batch of rare earth mining for 2023 at 15,000 tonnes, with a quota for smelting and separation at 13,850 tonnes, according to a joint statement by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The total rare earth mining quota and smelting and separation quota for 2023 is 255,000 tonnes and 243,850 tonnes respectively.
