Sinomine begins trial production at 35ktpa high-purity lithium salts project

On November 16, Sinomine started hot commissioning of its 35,000tpa high-purity lithium salts project located in Xinyu, Jiangxi. The project, invested and built by the company's wholly-owned subsidiary Chunpeng Lithium, kicked off production in 2022 and will mainly produce battery grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide, with anhydrous sodium sulfate as the byproduct.
Sinomine has existing production lines with capacity of 25,000tpa of battery grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide and 6,000tpa of battery grade lithium fluoride. With the new project put into operation, the company's total production capacity of battery grade lithium salts will reach 66,000tpa.
Sinomine has achieved self-sufficiency in raw materials for lithium salts production, as its Bikita mine in Zimbabwe with dressing capacity of 4Mtpa of lithium ore and its Tanco mine in Canada with spodumene mining and dressing capacity of 180,000tpa both operate at full capacity now.
