China Minmetals breaks ground on Chentaigou iron ore project

On June 26, the groundbreaking ceremony for Chentaigou iron ore project developed by China Minmetals was held in Anshan, Liaoning. With total investment of RMB10.8 billion (USD150 million), the project has a designed production capacity of 11 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) for the first phase, with annual iron ore concentrate output of 4.7Mtpa. It is the first iron ore mine in China with super-deep well and super-large scale. Upon completion, the project is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs.
