Offshore wind power generation in Northern Europe to increase sevenfold by 2030

On August 30, the Baltic Sea Energy Security Summit was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. In the meeting, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden and Finland agreed to increase offshore wind power generation in Northern Europe by seven times to 19.6GW from current 2.8GW by 2030, to wean the region off Russian energy. According to the initiative, the seven countries will build 1,700 new offshore wind turbines in about eight years, by which time they can generate enough power for 30 million customers.
