Albemarle's 50,000tpy lithium hydroxide project commences construction in Sichuan

On July 8, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Pengshan Economic Development Zone, Sichuan for a 50,000tpy lithium hydroxide project invested by the U.S. company Albemarle.
This project is an important part of Albemarle's business development strategy in the Asian-Pacific region and is its biggest investment in fixed assets in China till now. It is also a manufacturing project with the biggest foreign investment in Sichuan in the year of 2021.
The project is expected to be totally built in 2024. When it goes into operation, it will have an annual production capacity of 50,000t of lithium hydroxide, which are able to provide power for 1.5 million new energy vehicles.
