The last two iron ore mines in Beijing stop production

On December 17, 2020, law enforcement officers of Beijing Miyun District and Beijing Emergency Management Bureau withdrew the safety production licenses of Shouyun Mining Co., Ltd. and Beijing Weike Metallurgy Co., Ltd. According to Beijing Municipal Master Plan in 2016-2035 and the requirement of Miyun District government, the two iron ore miners must stop mining operations by December 20, 2020. Till now, the history of iron ore mining in Beijing came to an end.
Shouyun Mining Co., Ltd., founded in 1959, is one of the key metallurgical mines in China and the largest mining and processing enterprise in Beijing. It has more than 140 million tons of measured ore reserves, a designed annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons and an annual output of 500,000 tons of iron ore fines. It is adjacent to Beijing Weike Metallurgy Co., Ltd., whose annual production for iron ore fines and construction gravel is 500,000 tons and more than 6 million tons respectively.
