POSCO Chemical announced on June 15 that it is set to start commercial production of NCMA (nickel, cobalt, manganese, and aluminum) anode material for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
POSCO Chemical has completed the development of the anode material in cooperation with a global EV battery manufacturer, and tests on prototypes have been completed by the customer. It is planning to start commercial production of the material upon receiving orders from the customer.
The NCMA anode material developed by POSCO Chemical is characterized by a nickel content in excess of 80 percent, which helps increase battery capacity. POSCO Chemical applied a self-developed aluminum doping process to enhance the battery power and stability.
