Toyota invests USD13 billion in electric automobile and batteries

It is reported that Toyota will launch 10 types of full-electric automobiles around 2020 and expects to see the annual sales volume of about 1 million of electric automobiles and fuel cell cars till 2030. In addition, Toyota will invest USD13 billion in the manufacturing of battery electric automobile and batteries.
Toyota will launch battery electric automobiles in China firstly, followed by Japan, India, America and Europe. Toyota expects that its sales volume of electric automobiles will account for about 50% of its total sales volume in 2030 when it plans to sell 4.5 million oil-electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles.
What's more, Toyota is considering cooperating with Panasonic on the development of next-generation electric vehicle batteries including solid state batteries and cooperating with Mazda and Suzuki on the development of electric vehicles. Currently, Toyota's electric vehicle batteries are mainly supplied by LG Chem and Panasonic. However, Toyota states that Panasonic may be unable to meet its demand in 2030.
