MIIT investigates rare earth industry development in Inner Mongolia

On 7-9 June, 2018, Mr. Wang Jiangping, Vice Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, led a team to investigate the development of rare earth and dairy products industry in Baotaou City and Hohhot City, inspecting Baiyun Ebo mining area, Northern Rare Earth Smelting Branch, Tianhe Magnets, Jiangxin Motor and others, learning conservation and development of rare earth resources and development of downstream application industries and discussing with Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Economic and Information Technology Commission, related local governments and key enterprises.
Mr. Wang Jiangping highly appreciated efforts done by Baotou Municipal Government and Baotou Steel in conserving rare earth resources and promoting development of application industries and noted that Baotou City should work hard to extend industry chain, broaden industry range and increase factor efficiency in order to improve quality, efficiency and innovation as rare earth industry of Inner Mongolia is of significant influences in China with obvious advantages and certain scale for its solid basis in heave chemical industry. He hoped that Baotou Municipal Government could further strengthen management on rare earth resources, introduce more technologies and create new investment mechanism to promote development of local rare earth industry.
