BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 May 18 - Jiangmen Kanhoo Industry Co
The company has an annual capacity of 3,600t of lithium cobalt oxide and an existing annual capacity of 8,000t for ternary material. Demand for lithium cobalt oxide becomes more sluggish from 3C electronic market in the low season and much high prices for cobalt tetroxide, raw material, that producers keep firm . Downstream consumers for lithium cobalt oxide can't accept higher prices, and thus they placed fewer orders . The company suspended lithium cobalt oxide production in April. The source said, "Downstream consumers for lithium cobalt oxide press prices down to RMB500/kg (USD78.57/kg), but some cobalt tetroxide producers still keep selling prices at a high level of RMB510/kg (USD80.14/kg) now . As prices for cobalt tetroxide even hold at an almost same level from those of lithium cobalt oxide, we have no concrete resumption plan temporarily now."
In April, the company basically has no output of lithium cobalt oxide, while produced 650t of ternary material, expecting the output to be stable in May, holding no stocks for lithium cobalt oxide while holding 350t of ternary material stocks now.
Currently, prices for Chinese lithium cobalt oxide hold at RMB509-515/kg (USD79.97-80.91/kg); those for NCM 523 and 622 stand at RMB217-225/kg (USD34 . 09-35.35/kg) and RMB230-235/kg (USD36 . 13-36.92/kg) respectively.
