Multiple departments including Bureau of Land Resources and Public Security Bureau in Cenxi recently established an integrated enforcement team of 160 members for the crackdown on illegal mining of rare earth residual liquid at the recycling stations for associated rare earth resources in the former Sanbao Haojie granite mineral area.
It is reported that Haojie recycling station carried out the geological environment protection and pollution administration at surrounding areas after expired on December 30, 2015 which had been checked and accepted by Cenxi government. Law enforcement officials found during the patrol that nearby profit-driven villagers made illegal mining of rare earth residual liquid at the recycling stations, which may pose a huge potential safety hazard . Only by completely cracking down on such illegal behaviors can the hidden dangers be eliminated . A total of 20 water wells, 25 pools and 8 ponds were backfilled and a batch of water pipe and electric wires were torn down.
The next step for Cenxi’s relevant departments is to keep carring out all-weather monitoring and inspection for preventing the resurgence of illegal mining of rare earth residual liquid.
