After several years of efforts, a super-large ion-adsorbed rare earth deposite has been discovered in Southern Yunnan, a type of rare earth miners rarely seen in China, which is light rare earth mineral with a combination of lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, yttrium as well as gallium, niobium, rubidium, scandium and other scattered elements after weathering of alkali-syenite
The deposit has been reviewed by Provincial Department of Land and Resources recently and results showed that the deposit contains rare earth ores of 360 million tons and 470,000t of ion-adsorbed rare earth oxide with as high as 95% of major contents of lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium and yttrium. Paragenic (associated) ores of niobium oxide accumulates 57,462t and associated rubidium of 81,839t, gallium of 10,818t and scandium of 961t, all belongs to super large deposit with handsome economic potentials . According to experimental study, the recovery rate of rare earth deposits is more than 94% with purity of produced rare earth oxide reaching more than 92%.
The discovery of rare earth deposit is expected to help Yunnan province become a large potential of rare earth minerals.
. Based on thick weathering crust and good continuity, the deposit is ion-adsorbed rare earth ore with significant research value of development and utilization.
