Ethylene glycol antimony price dips

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 6 Jun 12 – Suppliers revealed a few buying activities in ethylene glycol antimony spot market and the price of antimony trioxide softens, so they lower their offers of ethylene glycol antimony.
A Hunan-based producer with an output of about 80-100tpm told Asian Metal that he offered RMB65,000/t (USD10,252/t) ex works for ethylene glycol antimony 55% one week ago, but offer RMB63,000/t (USD9,937/t) ex works for the material this week. “Thin deals had been made in spot market in the past two weeks,” said the source. “Consumers run low operating rate and cut down their consumption.”
The source expects the demand could turn better in August and September in ethylene glycol antimony market like it happened in the past years as the demand kept weak in the first half of the year.
A Hunan-based trader with a trading volume of about 20-30tpm told Asian Metal that he offers about RMB64,000/t (USD10,095/t) ex works for ethylene glycol antimony 55% and RMB65,000/t (USD10,252/t) ex works for ethylene glycol antimony 57.5% now, RMB1,000/t (USD158/t) lower than that of last week. “Antimony trioxide price softens and the demand of ethylene glycol decreases owing to low operation in polyester industry, so the price of ethylene glycol antimony cannot hold at present level,” said the source.
The source believes the price of ethylene glycol antimony will go down further in the short term in view of current demand and price decrease of raw material.
