FeNb market remains firm and Ta stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Aug 06 – Ferroniobium is firm and material is now being offered in the range USD21-21.75/kg Nb but concluded prices remain at around USD20/kg Nb for prompt delivery in warehouse Rotterdam.

A source reportedly sold some undisclosed tons at around USD20/kg Nb, and seeing that more enquiries are coming, he is now offering the material at USD21/kg Nb. “In this market, if you have material, you can sell it,” the trader source boasted. “Being a producer-controlled market, the only difficulty is being able to get supplies from producers.”

In the same vein, tantalite and columbite markets are respectively stable in the range USD32-34/lb for 25-28% and USD4.20-4.40/lb, although some people are trying to raise the columbite price, with someone offering the material as high as USD5/lb CIF Rotterdam from South Africa, which many people believe it is a dream that will not materialize in the near future for nobody could accept such high prices, at least for now.
