Antimony ingot price firming up

BEIJING(Asian Metal)25-Jan-05 According to some market participants in China, the current antimony ingot price in domestic market remains at around rmb24500/t, which is expected to rise further in the following days for the strong demand and tight supply of the material.
"At present, we can get antimony ingot at the price of about rmb24500/t," a Guangxi based trader told Asian Metal today, reporting that at the beginning of this month, he exported a batch of antimony ingot at the price of $2950/t CIF Barcelona. While late last week, the export price has surged to around $3050/t CIF. The trader is optimistic about the antimony market in the future. "I believe the price would breach $3100/t CIF at the end of this month," he added.
A Hunan based producer also confirmed the current high price of antimony ingot. "Now our antimony ingot is contracted at rmb24500/t, increasing by rmb2500/t compared with rmb22000/t early this month," a senior executive from the producer said, revealing that due to the current tight supply and soaring prices for antimony ore in domestic market, the company could not fully run at its 300tpm production capacity for antimony ingot. "Antimony ingot price would move up to rmb25000/t soon on account of the tight supply," he added.
Meanwhile, a Guangdong based trader reported that he received an offer of rmb25300/t from a major Hunan based antimony ingot producer today, which might be too high to accept for a time being.
For the moment, most of Chinese producers of antimony ingot keep watching the market change and waiting for a much higher price in the near future.
