BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Jan 06 – Sources said this quarter still sees low demand of gallium, and they believe it will remain like that till next quarter as they have not seen any mark of goodwill in the market rather than steady demand and static price for over two months because consumers have enough stocks to lead them till next quarter.
“I was in Japan last week and , none of my customers were thinking of buying gallium this quarter,” said a European source. “There is no reason to believe that the market will be good again this quarter, and when I talked to one of the large consumers in Japan, he said they still have enough material.”
According to the source, demand is still stable, and the price will remain inert at around USD320-360/kg.
Another source who told Asian Metal that he concluded a deal of 10kg at around USD420kg said nobody talks of gallium in the market and most of them called it “a market of luck” because you only sell on luck, and the source said most of his friends who have the material decided to turn their back on it waiting for something good.
Meanwhile, another source who gave out quotation of 99.999%min gallium at around USD460/kg for 10kg said he hopes the market will improve soon because end-user products have great prospect, which will help elevate gallium market .
