In 2023, Shandong produced 74.56 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 1.97% or 1,471,000 tonnes from 76.03 million tonnes in 2022, still ranking third in China with growth below the national average. The monthly crude steel production was 6.25 million tonnes on average during the year and peaked at 6.66 million tonnes in July.
