GEM signs JV agreement to develop nickel laterite ore smelting project in Indonesia

GEM (Wuxi) Energy Material, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GEM, on July 19 signed a joint venture agreement with Cahaya Jaya Investment, Weiming (Singapore) International Holdings, Gelinte (Jingmen) Engineering Partnership and Shanghai Puxiao Enterprise Management Partnership to build a nickel laterite ore hydrometallurgical smelting project in Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park, with total investment of up to USD500 million.
An Indonesian joint venture will be set up to develop the project which will produce 20,000 tonnes per year of nickel intermediate product used in the new energy sector.
