Zijin Mining halts copper production at Tibet Julong mine after accident

China's Zijin Mining released on Monday that on May 14, six people were missing after a lift cage falling accident during the engineering construction of shafts in the drainage system at the open-pit area of the Julong Copper Polymetallic mine which is undertook by its subsidiary Tibet Julong Copper Company and Fujian Xingwanxiang Construction Group.
After the accident occurred, Julong Copper immediately launched an emergency rescue plan and suspended production of the mine to clear all the hidden danger.
According to Zijin Mining's 2022 annual report, developing the second phase of the Julong copper project will contribute to a combined production capacity of 350,000t of mined copper per annum.
