Chinese HC ferromanganese prices remain stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Apr 23 – As the downstream clients purchase inactively, most Chinese HC ferromanganese suppliers intend to firm their prices until the major steel mills release their purchase prices. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese ferromanganese Mn 65%min C 5%max P 0.25%max S 0.03%max stand at RMB5,900-6,100/t (USD852-881/t) EXW D/P, in line with mid this week. Given the decreased prices of raw materials, insiders believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese HC ferromanganese would decrease further in the following week.
A producer in North China wants to sell ferromanganese Mn 65%min C 5%max P 0.25%max S 0.03%max at RMB6,100/t (USD881/t) EXW D/P today and they could consider the price as low as RMB6,000/t (USD866/t), unchanged from mid this week. The producer received no inquiry today and they last sold 300t at RMB6,100/t (USD881/t) at the beginning of last week. Due to the decreased production costs and the weak demand, the producer predicts that the mainstream prices of Chinese HC ferromanganese would move down in the following week.
With an annual production capacity of 100,000t of HC ferromanganese, the producer plans to produce around 3,000t this month. The producer produced 3,000t in the previous month as well, holding no inventory currently.
A trader in North China stated, "We offer RMB6,100/t (USD881/t) EXW D/P for ferromanganese Mn 65%min C 5%max P 0.25%max S 0.03%max with discounts of no more than RMB100/t (USD14/t), in line with the middle of this week". The trader received no inquiry today and last sold 300t at RMB6,100/t (USD881/t) mid last week. Because of the weak demand, the trader currently plans to firm their price but predicts that the prevailing prices of Chinese HC ferromanganese would move down next week.
With the regular monthly sales volume of nearly 400t of HC ferromanganese, the trader thinks they could sell around 400t this month, in line with the previous month. The trader currently holds around 200t of stocks.
