Chinese tungsten carbide power export market sees rare deals

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Apr 23 - Driven by the increase of domestic price, tungsten carbide power exporters marked up their prices slightly this week. However, depressed by the weak demand in the international market, the export market of tungsten carbide power witnessed scarce deals. At present, mainstream prices for Chinese tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm stand at USD39.5-40.5/kg FOB China, stable from early this week. Considering the price in domestic market shows an upward trend in general, insiders reckoned that export prices for Chinese tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm would edge up in the coming week.
An exporter in South China revealed, "We offer USD40/kg FOB China for tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm and would not consider lowering prices to sell at present stimulated by the increase of domestic price. We fail to close deals this week while exported 2t at USD39.8/kg late last week." The supplier added that their buyers in the international market mostly wait and see the market because of the weak demand in the terminal market. They expect to export about 20t in April, compared with about 60t in March. The supplier said that the price of tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm rose rapidly in domestic market since last week, and they raised the price to above RMB273/kg (USD39.45/kg), while they could consider selling at RMB268/kg (USD38.73/kg) last week. In view of the sharp increase of tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm price in domestic market and the increasing cost, the supplier predicted that export prices for Chinese tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm would edge up in the coming week.
With a monthly export volume of 50t of tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm, the supplier exported about 20t in April, down from about 60t in March. They exported about 600t in 2022 and about 200t so far in 2023. They hold about 50t of stocks now, unchanged from the previous month.
Another exporter in South China noted, "At present, we offer USD40.5/kg FOB China for tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm and could accept a concession of USD0.3/kg for firm bids, the same as early this week, while we last sold about 10t at USD40/kg late last week." The supplier said that they raised their price for the increase of tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm price in domestic market, but the export market failed to see active dealings. They expect to export about 200t in April, down from about 300t in March. Stimulated by the increase of tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm in domestic market, the supplier anticipated that export prices for Chinese tungsten carbide power 99.8%min 2.5-7.0μm would move up in general in the week to come.
