Hefeng Carbon restarts prebaked anode production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Apr 23 - Qinghai Hefeng Carbon Co., a small prebaked anode producer in Qinghai, started firing one baking furnace on April 23 and would release prebaked anode from late May, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We started firing one furnace from April 23 and would release product from late May," said the source, who might produce 3,000t in June and plans to restart the second furnace from late June. Focusing on sales in the local market, they hold no stock now. They once shut down operation in the middle of last year for overall maintenance.
With two baking furnaces and the total production capacity of 150,000tpy, they produced around 50,000t in 2022 and target over 50,000t in 2023.
Present mainstream prices for prebaked anode S 3%max in north China keep at RMB5,200-5,300/t (USD751-766/t) EXW, down by RMB200/t (USD29/t) from late last week, as the cost reduced and the demand remains sluggish. Prebaked anode producers remain pessimistic about the price in the coming two weeks.
