BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Apr 23 - Up on the stable prices in China but depreciated CNY against USD, the mainstream import prices of high-grade silicon metal 3-3-03 in Japan moved down by USD30/t to USD2,300-2,400/t CIF Japan this week from early last week
"I bought 30t of high-grade 3-3-03 at USD2,320/t CIF Japan this week from a regular Chinese supplier who insisted on USD2,350/t early last week," revealed a trader in Japan on Wednesday. He added that his suppliers moved prices down slightly upon the stable prices in China but depreciated CNY against USD, while most exporters turned reluctant to move prices down further as the supply in China remains tight, and he foresees the mainstream import prices of silicon metal 3-3-03 in China would go steady next week.
Based on a regular monthly trading volume of 500t of silicon metal, the trader expects to sell around 300t in April, down by 200t from last month due to the fierce competition in Japan, holding around 500t in stock.
Another trader in Japan revealed that he bought 60t of silicon metal 3-3-03 at USD2,300/t CIF Japan this week, down by USD30/t from the supplier's price early last week. "Upon the fewer export orders and depreciated CNY against USD, my major supplier marked prices down slightly to secure orders," revealed the trader on Wednesday .
