Qingyuan Dingsheng to halt black silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Apr 23 – Qingyuan Dingsheng Silicon Carbide Co., Ltd., a main black silicon carbide producer in Liaoning, expects to stop their production of black silicon carbide in early May discouraged by the sluggish market demand. They produced about 2,000t this month.
"We plan to stop our production in early May given the stagnant market demand and the great inventory pressure, expecting to resume the production in August. Till then, we would maintain our furnace and sell stocks", a source from the company revealed, noting that they would produce about 2,000t this month.
With a current annual production capacity of 30,000t, they produced about 17,600t in the previous year and they plan to keep same volume in 2023. They have a stock of nearly 5,000t at the moment.
The present mainstream prices of black silicon carbide 88%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 3%max free C 2.6%max stand at RMB5,400/t (USD780/t) EXW D/A 180 days in Liaoning, in line with early this week. As the market demand stay low, in consideration of the high production costs, market participants believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would keep stable in the upcoming week.
