Chinese calcined bauxite producers cut prices slightly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Apr 23 – Due to sluggish downstream market, most producers cut their prices slightly this week to maintain sales. The current prevailing prices for Chinese calcined bauxite Al2O3 85%min 0-30mm Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0.25%max B.D. 3.1min stand at RMB2,430-2,530/t (USD352-367/t) Ex-VAT EXW D/P, down by RMB20/t(USD3/t) from late last week. As most producers would keep steady their prices given the firm bauxite prices, insiders think that the mainstream prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would keep stable in the following week.
A producer in Shanxi quoted RMB2,500/t (USD362/t) Ex-VAT EXW D/P for calcined bauxite Al2O3 85%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0.35%max B.D. 3.1min today with a discount of RMB20/t(USD3/t) at most, while they refused to sell at any price lower than RMB2,500/t(USD362/t) late last week. The producer revealed, "We closed our last deal yesterday when we sold about nearly 150t at around RMB2,480/t (USD359/t)". However, given the firm production costs, they would keep their price and predict that the prevailing prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay steady in the following week.
The producer, with a yearly production capacity of 100,000t, plans to produce about 3,000t in April, in line with March. Currently they have an inventory of nearly 3,000t.
Another producer in Shanxi disclosed, "We held our quotation for calcined bauxite Al2O3 85%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 2%max K2O+Na2O 0.75%max B.D. 3.1min stable from late last week at RMB2,450/t (USD355/t) Ex-VAT EXW D/P with a counteroffer as much as RMB20/t(USD3/t), while we could not accept any prices lower than RMB2,450/t(USD355/t)". They last sold out about 200t at RMB2,450/t (USD355/t) late last week. In view of the high raw bauxite prices, they inclined to firm their price and believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay stable in the upcoming week.
