Chinese zirconium silicate producers ramp down output

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Apr 23 - Upon the waned demand, most Chinese zirconium silicate producers decreased output in April MoM, and the current mainstream prices of zirconium silicate 64.5%min in China edged down by RMB500/t (USD72/t) from early last week. Given the softening prices of zircon sand, insiders foresee the mainstream prices of zirconium silicate 64.5%min in China would go down further next week.
A producer in Guangdong revealed that the output of zirconium silicate in April would cut by at least 500t against March dragged by the sluggish demand from ceramic plants. "Out major client only keeps two out of ten production lines running now discouraged by the sluggish demand of titles from real estate industry," revealed the producer on Tuesday. He added that his current offer for zirconium silicate 64.5%min stands at RMB17,500/t (USD2,529/t) EXW D/P, and he sold 60t at RMB17,000/t (USD2,457/t) on Tuesday, down by RMB500/t (USD72/t) from the price he insisted on early last week. As the demand curtailed and zircon sand prices show downward trend, he foresees the mainstream prices of zirconium silicate 64.5%min in China would go down further next week.
With an annual production capacity of 35,000t, the producer foresees to produce around 1,000t this month, down by around 500t from March, holding about 1,000t in stock.
Another producer in Fujian revealed that they outputted around 3,000t of zirconium silicate in March but would maximumly reach 2,000t in April as the demand from ceramic plants cut. "My current offer for zirconium silicate 64.5%min stands at RMB18,000/t (USD2,601/t) EXW D/P with the discount of RMB500/t (USD72/t) at most for firm bids, while I insisted on RMB18,000/t (USD2,601/t) early last week and sold 30t at RMB18,000/t (USD2,601/t) early last week. "Most clients cut their consumption in April against March dragged by the sluggish demand of titles, and I predict the mainstream prices of zirconium silicate 64.5%min in China would go down further next week," revealed the producer on Tuesday.
