Chinese silicon metal prices stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Apr 23 - Supported by the high production cost, the current mainstream prices of silicon metal 4-4-1 in China hover at RMB15,800-16,300/t (USD2,295-2,368/t) delivered to main port, unchanged from early last week. Given the firm offers from suppliers, insiders predict the mainstream prices of silicon metal 4-4-1 in China would go steady next week despite the sluggish demand.
A producer in Gansu revealed that his current offer for silicon metal 4-4-1 stands at RMB15,600/t (USD2,266/t) EXW D/P with no discount, and he sold 100t at RMB15,800/t (USD2,295/t) delivered to Huangpu covered the logistic of RMB200/t (USD29/t) on Monday, in line with his price early last week. "We only keep one of our three production lines running now upon the sluggish demand but we kept two lines run in March," revealed the producer on Monday. He added that the current selling price already lower than this production cost, and he prefers to hold price firm and foresee the mainstream prices of silicon metal 4-4-1 in China would go stable next week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 25,000t of silicon metal, expects to produce around 700t in April with one of its three furnaces of 12,500kVA in operation, down by around 700t from last month, holding around 1,000t in stock.
A producer in Inner Mongolia disclosed that he sold 100t of silicon metal 4-4-1 at USD15,800/t (USD2,295/t) delivered to Tianjin port on Monday, unchanged from his price early last week. "We shut down one furnace in the middle of this month and keep two furnaces running now upon the sluggish demand and high production cost," revealed the producer on Monday.
