Chinese indium ingot prices decline slightly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Apr 23 - Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min suppliers generally lowered the prices slightly to compete for orders since the end of last week, while the market still saw inactive deals in view of soft demand from downstream consumers and wait-and-see attitudes from traders. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min move down by RMB10/kg (USD1.45/kg) from the end of last week to RMB1,420-1,470/kg (USD206-213/kg) EXW D/P. Insiders believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would stay unchanged within this week considering that most producers insist on their prices now.
A producer in southern China noted that they insist on RMB1,430/kg (USD207/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min at present and refuse to accept any lower price even for firm bids now as they hold no stock for selling till the end of April. However, they still insisted on RMB1,440/kg (USD209/kg) EXW D/P early last week, while failed to close any deal. They last sold around 1t at RMB1,430/kg (USD207/kg) EXW D/P last Friday. The source said, "As the market movement slowly but producers generally watch the market with firm offers, we are of the opinion that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would remain stable in rest days of this week."
The producer, based on a production capacity of 60tpy of indium ingot 99.995%min, expects to produce around 3t in April, almost unchanged from March. They hold no stock now, in line with the end of last month. They produced about 33.5t in 2022 and around 9.5t in the past three months in 2023.
A trader in southern China mentioned that they offer RMB1,460/kg (USD212/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min at present and could accept a counteroffer of RMB10/kg (USD1.45/kg) for firm bids as they could not receive any inquiry since this Monday and tend to move down the prices to promote sales. They still could close deal at RMB1,460/kg (USD212/kg) EXW D/P last week, when they last sold around 100kg at this price. The source said, "We expect to close only around 800kg in April, while usually could close more than 2t a month before." They forecast that the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would keep steady in the following week due to firm prices of crude indium 99%min now.
