Aluminum fluoride producers in China anticipate higher prices

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 Apr 23 - Over the past week, fluorspar prices in China went up and the purchase demand improved, so aluminum fluoride producers in China plan to raise offers and anticipate higher prices in the coming two weeks. Current mainstream prices for aluminum fluoride 61%min in China stand at RMB8,450-8,650/t (USD1,226-1,255/t) EXW, up by RMB100/t (USD15/t) from late last week.
A Hunan-based aluminum fluoride producer reported that they now offer RMB9,000/t (USD1,306/t) delivered for aluminum fluoride 61%min with the freight at around RMB300/t (USD44/t) and lately sold around 400t at around RMB8,600/t (USD1,248/t) delivered two weeks ago. "The price will go up as the price of fluorspar 97%min rose by around RMB100/t (USD15/t) to around RMB3,200/t (USD464/t) delivered over the past week," said the source, adding that fluorspar producers now offer RMB3,500/t (USD508/t) delivered.
The producer, with five production lines and the total production capacity of 90,000tpy, produced around 5,000t in March and might produce 4,500t in April, with present stocks close to 1,000t. They produced close to 15,000t so far this year and around 60,000t in 2022.
A producer of aluminum fluoride in Shandong anticipated that the price will move up early next month as the purchase demand improved. "We lately sold around 2,000t of aluminum fluoride 61%min at around RMB8,500/t (USD1,233/t) delivered with the freight of around RMB50/t (USD7/t) early this month," said the source, noting that they could not accept the low price now as the best offer of fluorspar 97%min reached around RMB3,200/t (USD464/t) delivered, up by over RMB100/t (USD15/t) over the past two weeks. In addition, two regular buyers planned to order around 1,000t last week but they refused as the supply is short.
Based on two production lines and the total production capacity of 55,000tpy, they produced around 3,000t in March, down from around 4,500t in the previous month, with no stock now. They produced over 10,000t in Q1 this year and around 35,000t in 2022.
