BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 Apr 23 - As the market remained weak demand during the past half a month, most producers lower their prices slightly since this week. The current mainstream prices of Chinese caustic calcined magnesia 90%min 200mesh (SiO2 3%max; CaO 2%max) stand at RMB930-980/t (USD135-142/t) EXW D/A 180 days, down by RMB20/t (USD2.9/t) from early this month
"We quoted for caustic calcined magnesia 90%min 200mesh (SiO2 4%max) at around RMB900/t (USD131/t) EXW D/P with no more concession today, but failed to close any deal due to no inquiry. We sold around 200t at such price late last week," a producer in Liaoning noted. While they sold around 150t at nearly RMB950/t (USD138/t) and refused any lower price in early this month . They added that they reduced production in April due to weak demand and intended to keep the prices firmed supported by production cost . Therefore, they believed that the mainstream prices of Chinese caustic calcined magnesia would keep stable next week.
Based on a production capacity of 30,000tpy, they produced about 3,000t this month, down by about 2,000t from last month, and holding an inventory of about 3,000t at present.
"Since late last week, we quoted around RMB850/t (USD123/t) EXW D/P with no more concession for caustic calcined magnesia 90%min 200mesh (SiO2 5%max) with a concession of RMB20/t (USD2.9/t) if clients purchased more than 300t at a time and sold about 500t at RMB830/t (USD120/t) last Thursday," another producer in Liaoning reported. They last sold around 200t at RMB890/t (USD129/t) in early this month . They had to decrease the prices for promotion as they knew that other local producers cut prices . Supported by production cost, they have no intention to decrease their prices further and estimated that the mainstream prices of Chinese caustic calcined magnesia would keep steady in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 120,000t, they produced about 2,000t in April, down by 1,000t from last month. Now they hold about 2,000t of stocks in hand.
